Making Nutrition Matter

In the previous post, Cory discussed the commitment it truly takes to make a change to your body and live a healthy lifestyle. Now let’s look at this idea and connect it to healthy eating. For those who don’t know,  perhaps the most important factor in body composition is one’s diet and nutrition. Eating the right foods will make you leaner, more muscular and even contribute to well-being and energy levels. However, it doesn’t have to be complicated.

If you look out into the market there are loads of quick diets, schemes, and systems to make you lose fat, build muscle, or “cleanse”. The majority of the time, people sign up for these crazy plans and dread every meal and every snack. In order to change your diet and make it consistent, you need to be able to enjoy it. Eating the right foods will make all the difference in the world for your body AND you can enjoy them as well. That’s right, you don’t have to force feed certain vegetables, nuts or dry rice cakes if you don’t want to. Being able to enjoy your meals will help you stick to your specific meal plan.

There’s a major difference between eating for nutrition and eating for food. Eating because you’re hungry is just putting empty calories in your body; you need to eat for nutrition everytime you snack or eat a meal. Learning the macronutrient content (fat, protein, carb) of foods will help you make better food selections for yourself on a day to day basis. Once you know exactly what you need, it’s very easy to mix and match and make some delicious meals. Becoming more informed about food will help you to make better food choices both at home and on the go.

Simply putting foods in your mouth without thought to the ingredients is inexcusable. Become a smarter consumer, and combined with some exercise you’ll get a strong, lean, and healthy body.
